HEMPEL

Windermere, Florida | Speakeasy & Multipurpose Room Design

Hempel began as a studio above the garage at a Windermere residence. The goal was to turn it into a modern speakeasy-inspired space that could also function as a multipurpose room for entertaining and relaxing.

Moxie developed the design around a custom bar and a built-in television and fireplace wall. These features gave the room two distinct gathering points while keeping it flexible enough for different uses, from hosting friends to settling in for a movie.

The bar includes quartz countertops, a custom backsplash, trim molding and integrated LED lighting. Color drenching brought a richer, more immersive feel to the room, creating the speakeasy atmosphere that guided the project.

The television wall carries that attention to detail across the space, combining a fireplace with built-in cabinetry and integrated lighting. New flooring, ceiling fans and selected furnishings completed the redesign, bringing the room’s finishes and furniture into the same direction.

Hempel shows how an interior designer can turn a bonus space into something personal and memorable. Rather than leaving the studio as an extra room above the garage, Moxie gave it a clear identity and the features needed to make it an inviting part of the home.
